KAMPFIRE FILMS SIGNS ON FOR GASBAG SEASON II, SEASON I IS AVAILABLE ONLINE

GASBAG is a Seinfeld meets Ted Lasso comedy about GEORGE NORDSTROM

GASBAG is a Seinfeld meets Ted Lasso comedy about GEORGE NORDSTROM, 40, an eager but friendless travel agent in Queens who suffers from logorrhea, or excessive overtalking. (It’s a real thing.) Written by Lynn Rosen with comedian Chad Kessler as George, directed by Meredith McDonough (Peter and the Starcatcher, Actors Theatre of Louisville) and Julie Kramer (The Best of Everything, Off-Broadway), edited by Christopher Gerson (Dawin, webseries), the pilot episodes were recorded during and inspired by Covid quarantine. See Season I is now available at https://www.youtube.com/@GasbagTheSeries

Isolated during Covid with no one to talk at, George realizes he must change if he wants friends, let alone find love. His overbearing mother, PHYLLIS, won’t make that easy, and suppressed memories of his estranged father that bubble up every time he quiets down makes him want to do a 24-hour karaoke marathon. But thanks to his can-do spirit and help from his bossy cousin JEAN, 35, George will try to transform his life by learning to love silence. He may even learn to love himself. Especially when George realizes he’s as gay as a Fran Drescher figurine.

The production stars David James Boyd (Miss Saigon, Broadway) as Rob, Tina Chilip (Ma-Yi and the National Asian American Theater Company) as Jean, Jorge Cordova (Billions, TV) as Tad, Christy Escobar (GNIT, Off-Broadway) as Pam, Mia Katigback (Obie Award for Awake and Sing!) as Phyllis, Chad Kessler (Tainted Dreams, Amazon) as George, Deirdre Lovejoy (Lucky Guy, Broadway, The Blacklist, The Wire) as Rona, and Jackie Tohn (Glow, Netflix) as Stella.

Chad Kessler (George) is an actor, creator, and producer. He can be seen on Amazon's multiple Emmy-nominated series Tainted Dreams, appearing as Lance Shapiro, and is also a recurring voice on Pokemon! The Series and Nickelodeon. On stage, he created a multitude of roles in the long-running hit Off-Broadway trilogy, My Big Gay Italian Wedding, My Big Gay Italian Funeral, and My Big Gay Italian Mid-Life Crisis. Other NYC stage work has been seen at Lincoln Center, West End Theater, The Actors Playhouse, and Ensemble Studio Theater. Chad co-created and produced The Groove Factory (Richard Rogers Award Finalist, NYMF) and Stepchild, currently in development (Milwaukee Rep, Lark, IRT, Laguardia Performing Arts Center). Chad is a proud NYU/Tisch grad and an occasional overtalker.
