LONG PATH OUTFITTERS LAUNCHES HIKE NYACK EXPERIENCE

A NEW MAP TO HIGHLIGHT NYACK’S TRAILS, GREENSPACES, AND RESTAURANTS

Nyack, NY: October 11, 2024 – Long Path Outfitters, Nyack’s premier outdoors store, is thrilled to announce the launch of the Hike Nyack Experience, featuring a physical map and microsite of the area's extensive trail network, vibrant greenspace, and food options. Thanks to a generous tourism grant from the Village of Nyack, the new map will be distributed in October 2024. The Hike Nyack Map, designed by local author and illustrator Sam Wedelich, will serve as a gateway for outdoors enthusiasts to explore the natural beauty surrounding downtown Nyack while introducing them to the town’s diverse culinary offerings. Physical maps will be available at Long Path Outfitters and other participating shops and restaurants.

Conceived by Long Path Outfitters owner, Laura Neil, the map will guide visitors to trailheads, parks, and nature preserves, all located within a few miles of downtown Nyack, making it easy to access the outdoors. A QR code on the map will connect users directly to the Hike Nyack Experience webpage, offering further details on the trails plus a curated list of local restaurants perfect for a packed lunch or post-hike meal.

Neil notes, “Since we opened our doors, our most-asked question is ‘What is your favorite hike nearby? This question inspired the Hike Nyack Experience’. The map is designed to help Nyack visitors and encourage repeat visits by showcasing the unique blend of outdoor adventure and vibrant dining options the town has to offer.”

The information will also be accessed through the Visit Nyack webpage. The Hike Nyack Experience will highlight Hook Mountain, Nyack Beach, and Rockland Lake State Parks in addition to the Long Path Trail, Riverhook Preserve, Marydell Preserve, The Esposito Trail, the Shared Use Path on the Mario Cuomo Bridge and Memorial Park.

The Hike Nyack Experience is not just about the trails—it’s about enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Nyack Mayor Joe Rand notes how downtown Nyack is perfectly located and the new map shows why: “With state parks, nature preserves, and other greenspaces near downtown Nyack, the region offers the perfect balance of outdoor adventure and small-town charm. Visitors can immerse themselves in nature on a hike, while also enjoying  the wide array of dining and shopping options in one of the most walkable downtowns in the Hudson Valley.”
