SILVERBACK MOUNTAIN’S MICKEY GOOCH JR. JOINS BROADWAY’S CELEBRITY AUTOBIOGRAPHY

FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY, JUNE 22, 2026, AS HIS OFF-BROADWAY GAY PLAY EXTENDS, THE STAR WILL PARTICIPATE IN A SEGMENT ON REBEL WILSON’S REBEL RISING

NEW YORK, NY (June 15, 2026)— Mickey Gooch Jr., writer, producer, and star of the ultra gay, campy Off-Broadway musical comedy Silverback Mountain, which announces its one-week extension until June 28, will join the hit comedy Celebrity Autobiography on June 22 at the Shubert Theatre on Broadway, featuring a segment on his relationship with Rebel Wilson as detailed in her book Rebel Rising.

The appearance marks Gooch’s first foray into Broadway, after leading a successful film career, and currently starring Off-Broadway in Silverback Mountain at AMT Theater, which must close June 28. The Off-Broadway comedy, billed as a developmental Pride Month production and written and starring Gooch, received recognition for its irreverent take on queer narratives and its comedic storytelling.

Gooch joins the Celebrity Autobiography on June 22, with a cast including Lewis Black, Danny Burstein, Kathy Griffin, and the show’s creators Eugene Pack and Dayle Reyfel

Celebrity Autobiography is the international hit comedy sensation featuring a constantly-expanding rotating cast of today's celebrities from TV, film, and stage, sports, and, yes, even politics, acting out OTHER celebrities’ unintentionally hilarious autobiographies live on Broadway. It’s “a merry compendium of the witlessness of the rich and famous,” says The New York Times, and audiences agree, “We couldn’t make this stuff up!”

During the Celebrity Autobiography segment, Gooch will reflect on his experience on the set of How to Be Single, the 2016 ensemble comedy where he met and subsequently dated actress Rebel Wilson for approximately six months beginning in 2015. The relationship later gained significant public attention following Wilson’s 2024 memoir reveal, in which she disclosed that Gooch was the first person with whom she had been intimate, losing her virginity to him at age 35.

Gooch commented, “I’m very excited, and I believe that the show is right up my alley. It just so happens that I am myself famously named in a celebrity autobiography that I’ll have a lot of fun with. What a way to pop MY cherry…on Broadway.”

SILVERBACK MOUNTAIN is a chaotic adventure that blends screwball comedy, a love story, and a jailbreak into a musical romp. Featuring gay mountain people, a gorilla named Undatee, and Wendy Williams, the play explores the courage it takes to genuinely say "I love you" in a world that constantly tries to silence it.
