"The Most Important New Show” SLAM FRANK Returns This Fall to Off-Broadway’s Orpheum Theatre

New York Times Best Comedy of 2025, "Gleefully Provocative” Performances Begin September 17

Opening October 4 - November 30, 2026

“A safe space for dangerous thought… laugh your ass off…The closest thing off-Broadway has to an episode of South Park.” TheaterMania

“Bold, triggering, brilliant. Exactly what satire is meant to be.” Israel Times

“The best use of theater expression in a long time…The line for entry was down the block, people on their third viewing, relatives flying across the country.” Theatre Beyond Broadway

NEW YORK, NY — EMBARGO: After playing to sold-out houses at Asylum NYC, the incendiary new musical SLAM FRANK, which reimagines Anne Frank’s story through an intersectional, multiethnic, genderqueer, Afro-Latin hip-hop lens, will open Off-Broadway at the Orpheum Theatre (126 2nd Avenue, NYC) on October 4, 2026. The show will once again be directed by Sam LaFrage, who “has built a reputation for creating theater that gleefully refuses to behave. Provocative, messy, funny, weird, queer, and often impossible to categorize, his work has cultivated the kind of devoted audiences who crave theatrical experiences that feel alive, dangerous, and just a little unhinged” (Broadway World). “MASTER TROLL” (NYT) Andrew Fox conceived, composed, and co-wrote the show with Joel Sinensky, drawing from real statements and online discourse. Previews begin on September 17, exactly one year after the start of the developmental run, and continue through November 30, 2026.

In celebration of the triumphant return, SLAM FRANK will be hosting Off-Broadway’s First Annual Official Belated Pro-Diversity, Pre-Julyteenth, Cismasc-Affirming, Anti-Capitalist, LatinX Anne Frank Fiesta de Quinceañera Box Office Discount Ticket Release Event (2026) at the Orpheum Box Office on June 19th at 6 pm. There will be special guests and performances, plus a $36 ticket price for the $50 and $70 tickets, with the remaining seats at a $36 discount. This special pricing will only be available in person at the theater on June 19th.

Inspired by a viral Twitter thread that asked, “Did Anne Frank ever acknowledge her white privilege?”, Slam Frank imagines what happens when a progressive community theater company decides to transform Anne Frank’s story into an intersectional, multiethnic, genderqueer, Afro-Latin hip-hop musical. The result is one of the most talked-about, argued-about, and laughed-about productions of the season—part satire, part reckoning, all conversation-starter.

Critics have called Slam Frank one of the boldest theatrical experiences of 2025. Former New York Times critic Ben Brantley praised it as “the most important show around,” applauding its fearless theatricality. Zachary Stewart of TheaterMania raved, “If you love the theater and want it to once again be a safe space for dangerous thought, the best thing you can do is buy a ticket to Slam Frank and laugh your ass off. I promise, it won’t be difficult!”

Performances will be held at the Orpheum Theatre (126 2nd Avenue, NYC) starting September 17. Wednesday - Monday at 7 pm; Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $50–$140 at SlamFrankMusical.com.

Running Time: 110 minutes
