Stella, Grace, and Madison are three BFFs who’ve been planning their perfect Senior Prom since Kindergarten. The most essential element of a perfect prom? A perfect date, of course. Luckily the girls have summoned their dream dates even if they are a bit, well … dead. But when Prom takes a turn for the worse, and their perfect dates reveal themselves to be perfectly monstrous, will the girls--and more importantly THEIR FRIENDSHIP--survive!?

“It’s flat out hilarious, a perfect blend of sincere and ironic: walking the line between millennial dryness and gen z absurdity." - Stephen M. Eckert, Director

The production stars Heather Sawyer as Stella, Alia Cuadros-Contreras as Grace, Zoe Dean as Madison, Will Einbinder as Lucian, Hagan Oliveras as Silence, Patrick Voss Davis as Zach, Stephanie Hawkins as Smiley Cindy Track, and Patrick Swailes Caldwell as Coach Snell Track.

The production features scenic design by Lex Gernon-Wyatt, costume design by Olivia Hern, and lighting design by Andrew DG Hunt. Alex Petti is the sound designer and Emily Bubeck is the stage manager. Publicity by Katie Rosin/Kampfire PR.

BIOGRAPHIES

ANNIE PULSIPHER (Playwright) started writing short plays in high school that were primarily an excuse to make cheesy puns, rant about feminism, and use excessive amounts of stage blood … she is still quite fond of this. Annie received her MFA in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon School of Drama. She’s had productions and readings of her work across the country most notably with Kensington Theatre, the Kennedy Center through KCACTF, and the Tribeca Film Festival. Her screenplay, The Glowing Gene, won the Sloan Student Grand Jury Prize from the Tribeca Film Institute. She is a proud member of the BMI Librettists’ Workshop.

ALEX PETTI (Composer / Lyricist) is a Lebanese Irish-Catholic writer from Massachusetts who grew up as a pop punk rocker. Though his dreams of headlining Warped Tour have ended, the energy of the genre still infuses his music. He writes musical theater shows in the genres of punk, folk and rock, and is the front man of good thoughts, his NYC based rock band.

Alex is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon, a composer in the BMI Advanced Musical Theatre Workshop, a 2022 O’Neill Semi-Finalist (The Hometown Tour), a 2022 Participant in the Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project and a proud Dad to his cat, Sonia.

STEPHEN M. ECKER (Director) is a queer director making queer theater queerly. Their artistic practice includes collaborating on new plays, musicals, contemporary performance, and opera; as well as critical engagement with canonical texts. They were the founder and Artistic Director of the award-winning Promethean Theatre Company in New Orleans and their work has been seen in New York, London, and at the Prague Quadrennial. Some credits include A Small Breach of Protocol at Big Rick’s Rockin’ Skydive Academy (Sam French Off-Off-Broadway Festival,) ID, Please (Tête à Tête New Opera Festival,) and Paul Ryan Presents Aynnie: The Lil’ Orphan Objectivist (People’s Improv Theater.) www.StephenMEckert.com

BLACK WATCH THEATRE, Having been with the show since its run at MCL Chicago, Black Watch Theatre is proud to be making its off-broadway debut with The Trouble with Dead Boyfriends this summer. A brand new production company, Black Watch Theatre is named after the Scottish battalion which famously struck fear in the hearts of their enemies during WWII. Our co-founder's grandfather fought Nazis with these 'devils in skirts', and we hope to support rising artists that continue the legacy of displaying courage, defeating fascism, and being unafraid to wear kilts.
