Founded by Broadway performer Matt DeAngelis (Swept Away) in loving memory of his mother Janice, who passed away from metastatic breast cancer in 2022, THE JANICE JAM channels the magic of Broadway to honor those we've lost, uplift those still fighting, and fund critical research. DeAngelis—alongside a passionate group of friends and Broadway industry colleagues—curates an unforgettable evening of Celebration, Remembrance, and Awareness each year. The event serves as both a tribute to Janice’s love for theater and a rallying cry for the millions impacted by metastatic breast cancer. One hundred percent of net proceeds support research grants through the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the world’s largest private funder of breast cancer research.
Tickets range from $50 to $ 100, with General Admission Table Seating, and a limited number of standing-room-only tickets available HERE, and limited VIP Tables accessible via the following LINK. Guests will enjoy pre-show music, specialty acts courtesy of STAGE TIME, and a full menu of cocktails and food available for purchase. During the event, guests will hear stories of survival encouragement and celebrate those past and present with a one-of-a-kind evening of songs from the Best on Broadway.
Be sure to check out Playbill’s coverage of this event, including insights from Broadway artists impacted by breast cancer, at www.Playbill.com/TheJaniceJam. The information will feature stories, video segments, and a call to action for donations to BCRF.
Why Metastatic Breast Cancer?
Unlike early-stage breast cancer, metastatic breast cancer (MBC)—also referred to as Stage IV—indicates that the cancer has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body. While treatments may prolong life, there is currently no cure. Approximately 30% of individuals diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer will eventually experience a recurrence as MBC, and each day, we lose about 115 lives to this disease.
Broadway’s own Breast Cancer Survivors, TV/Broadway star Krysta Rodriguez (SMASH), Sarrah Strimel Bentley (An American in Paris), and Kara Lindsay (Once Upon a Mattress) will be recognized, and the first-ever Fighting Flamingo Award will be given that night to Rodriguez commemorating her fight against the disease and work in helping to find a cure. Stage IV breast cancer thriver Tami Eagle Bowling (The Eagle Method) will be sharing her story of resilience.
Joining the third annual event in-person and virtually include* Oscar Award-winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Tony Award-winner John Gallagher Jr. (Swept Away), Tony Award-nominees Jeremy Jordan (Floyd Collins), and Stark Sands (Swept Away), as well as Broadway notables Caroline Bowman (SMASH), Hunter Brown (Swept Away), Brent Comer (The Outsiders), Kayla Davion (Elf), Matt DeAngelis (Swept Away), Lissa DeGuzman (Wicked), Christine Dwyer (Wicked), Adrian Blake Enscoe (Swept Away), Rebecca Naomi Jones (Stereophonic), Rachel Potter (Evita), Maia Reficco (Hadestown), Marty Thomas (Xanadu), Nik Walker (Spamalot), Morgan Anita Wood (Hamilton), NBC’s “The Voice” star Omar Jose Cardona. With virtual appearances from Tony winner Lauren Patten (Jagged Little Pill), and Tony nominee Jenn Colella (Suffs).
The evening has musical direction by Benjamin Rauhala (Disney Princess: The Concert) with Yair Evnine (Guitar/Cello), Rich Mercurio (Drums), Lee Nadel (Bass) and Meg Toohey (Guitar).

“If you’ve lost someone to breast cancer, it means it was metastatic. Every day, we lose approximately 115 lives to this disease— research is the only path to a cure,” says MBC patient advocate Tami Eagle Bowling. “That’s why events like The Janice Jam are so vital. They turn heartbreak into hope, fueling the science that gives us more time, more answers, and a real chance at saving lives.”
Matt DeAngelis, creator of The Janice Jam, adds, “Year three, and we’re growing in heart and purpose. We sing for those we've lost, those who fight daily, and those who support the path to a cure. This night is for my mother, Janice, and the millions affected by this disease. It’s about building community, advancing research, and honoring love through action.”
“By supporting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the largest private funder of metastatic breast cancer research worldwide, The Janice Jam is driving change to improve outcomes and save lives,” said BCRF Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Dorraya El-Ashry. “Metastatic breast cancer is an urgent priority for BCRF as the cause of virtually all breast cancer deaths. This year alone, BCRF is dedicating about half of its total investment - $32.8 million across 86 projects – to metastatic breast cancer research. We are committed to accelerating progress for treatments that extend lives and ultimately that cure MBC for all women.”
